What is Students and Startups?
Simply put, it’s just that; Students and Startups coming together to network in a fun and stress free environment. Students are given the opportunity to meet exciting startups with hiring needs. Startups are given the opportunity to meet with bright, ambitious students who are looking for work.
The logistics of the event are completely handled by TheCodeFactory and our supporters so all you need to worry about is showing up, meeting some exciting people and having a good time.
Students and Startups first drew breath back in 2008 thanks to a combined effort by TheCodeFactory and Carleton University to help find soon-to-be grads meaningful employment. Gathered together at TheCodeFactory's previous location, a hush fell over the room as opening remarks were made by Luc Lalande and Tony Bailetti. The students and startups introduced themselves to the room before they were broken into groups, and so it began!
Over the years the event has changed and adapted, but the original premise still remains: to find students meaningful employment and to find startups intelligent, qualified employees. Students and Startups has been hosted 16 times now with 32 hires and 405 smiles.
